Below is a post from the taper on a BP message board - it tells the story of this very special show
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been cool to read such an outpouring of *joy* from everyone about this single BP set after such a long dry spell. Rich Steele called me the day before this party to ask if I could record the bands. No one had any idea then how it would turn out.
Rich had to work, and I was available so I went. I knew Clay was going to be there because there had been a Facebook event created claiming that Pet Cemetery would make a surprise appearance at this party (the Pet Cemetery claim was pretty quickly shown to be false), but Magner showed up as well so it looked for a while that something was going to come together. At one point I spoke to Clay and he said he felt like playing but was unsure who else was there who he could jam with. When the idea of playing with Magner was suggested, Clay replied, "I'll let him drink some more whiskey first and then ask him."
A bit later Clay comes over to the sound board and privately says to me, "Brothers Past is going to play a set. Everyone is on their way here right now." I said, "I thought Tommy was at moe down," and Clay says, "No, he left already and is on his way here now." He was concerned that we would have enough vocals set up and I assured him there were already three mics set up from the other band so he'd be fine.
I only saw BP twice in the years I've been taping, and honestly two of those times only because they were playing with another band I had come to see. So when they started to play I was surprised to find myself really happy. They sounded good for a band that hadn't played together for a while, and I knew all of the songs, so I guess I was (am?) a bigger BP fan than I thought I was (am). As it turned out, BP played the entire set with borrowed instruments (belonging to the members of the band Sinking Ship, which had played just before the BP set).
In any case, I'm really glad I could keep the recording going through this set and get it on BR soon afterwards last night. I think it's been played over half a dozen times already. I transferred the master WAV files to Rich Steele earlier today. He's tracking and mastering the set as I write this. I hope to get the finished files back from him later tonight and it'll be on Archive soon after that.
By the way, the refrerence to "Your Mom's House" comes from the name of the DVD that Sinking Ship was shooting that night. Apparently someone had suggested they name the DVD "Live from Your Mom's House" so when I went live on biscoRADIO at th beginning of the music I named the stream "Live from Your Mom's House." Even though a lot of people know where this set was played, for the sake of the family's privacy I'm going to post it to LMA as having taken place in Philadelphia at "Your Mom's House."
