Villa de Alburquerque, takes a look at the colorful history of Spanish colonial Alburquerque, and the cultural contributions of the many people who helped make Albuquerque what it is today. Covering Albuquerque's Spanish colonial period, from 1706 - 1821, the program delves into how people lived: settlers, soldiers, servants, and sedentary and nomadic tribes. The program also examines the cross-cultural influences of the time -- influences that helped to define what it means to be a New Mexican today. With the help of historians, re-enactors, a musician and DNA investigator, "Villa de Alburquerque" explores the historical roots of New Mexico's mixed heritage, conveying the lives of the common people behind the big names and events.
