Noisturiser (The Netherlands, 1995-1999, 2007- ). Home-recording project founded in 1995. Enjoyed its most productive period between 1996 and 1998. Though never officially disbanded, last Noisturiser activities date back to 1999. New album project planned as soon as early 2008. Influenced by punk rock's DIY attitude and inspired by sound-art and underground music. Founding members René Pinger (5/5/1975) and Sebastiaan Schlicher (4/5/1975) engaged in impromptu musical recording sessions and experimentations, using common musical instruments as well as everyday objects. Typically, recordings of live improvisations would get dubbed several times on ordinary tape decks rather than using professional equipment or computers, causing a loss of audio quality that was considered beneficial to the overall sound. Noisturiser's output consists of plugged and unplugged noise experiments, collages, spoken word pieces, and folky instrumentals. Noteworthy curiosities are an early rap version of The carpenters' 'Top Of The World', and 'Hans & Grietje' ('Hansel & Gretel'), a rendition of the famous Grimm brothers' fairytale. Noisturiser's 'Weirdest Hits' album 'Demented Boxer' (2007) is a freely available collection of tracks taken from the original 'Home recordings 5' and 'Mastertape' audio cassettes. The album offers 13 original pieces and one 'Slightly different version' (of the satanical sounding 'Excorcism Excercise'). Moods and emotions range from odd to unnerving, and from maniacal to melancholy. 'Demented Boxer (weirdest hits)' represents a mere fraction of Noisturiser's original output, as most tapes have long gone missing.
