A great work from a great Romantic, showing of all possibilities of the clarinet, as much for the expression than for the technical achievement. Very close indeed from Weber concerti for the same instrument, but in a sort of more concentrated way, due to the use of the string quartet instead of the orchestra, a fact that gives more deepness to the expression, and more precision to the fast movements.
