Meaningless life in Japan
Meaningless Life in Japan
I was watching a TV documentary – I think presented by julian Pettifer – about a French catholic priest who had gone to Japan to spread the word about Christ’s salvation. The Japanese (whose own religions seem to consist of the endless definition complex hierarchies or making mind-numbing repetitions of meaningless phrases so that they will achieve glory in their repected work group) were decidedly uninterested in his smoky and mysterious version of salvationj preferring …. A meaningless life in japan. So, after failing to find a single convert in ten years, he eventually decided to open a bar and continue his mission by serving saki and expensive imported american beer to completely drunk and totally uninterested Japanese businessmen. This method improved his conversion rate dramatically and, after another ten years he now had one convert. I didn’t know whether to feel sad for him or to laugh.
To lead a meaningless life in Japan
I left the sun-drenched valleys of the peaceful Loire
It was my mission
To lead a meaningless life in Japan
Preaching the word of the one true Lord
To those who would not listen
Preferring
To lead a meaningless life in Japan
