A wrongly addressed envelope advises Lucy that she has been drafted into the marines. The letter is addressed to Lou C, so Lucy heads off to the draft office to point out the mistake.

Lucy is sent to a film studio to deliver some papers regarding the financing of a new John Wayne film, with explicit instructions not to bother Mr Wayne. But Lucy being Lucy ends up covering him with tomato ketchup.

Viv flies to California to visit Lucy and admits that she's looking for a young college student from her hometown whom she believes has fallen in with the no-good beatnik crowd. Lucy and Viv disguise themselves as hippies to track the youth down.

Ventriloquist Paul Winchell is the latest celebrity customer at Lucy's bank and agrees to perform a benefit. When the dummy suffers a mishap on the big night, Lucy is forced to stand in.

Lucy's boss gets stationed on a submarine as a result of her talkativeness. Lucy dresses as a sailor in order to board the vessel and get Mr. Mooney to sign some vital documents, but the submarine sets sail before she is back on shore.

Lucy calls in sick in order to accompany Carol to Palm Springs, where she is to entertain at a golf tournament. When hotel staff realise there are two women sharing a room, Lucy finds herself having to take part in the show.

Mr Mooney buys his wife an expensive ring for their anniversary, only for it to get stuck on Lucy's finger.

Lucy wins a competition writing a jingle for a dog food company and lands a trip to London. Unfortunately she misses her flight and heads of to New York in order to catch up with the plane.

Lucy needs help meeting the expenses and advertises for a roommate. She finally selects librarian Carol, but Carol soon starts taking over.

Bank customer George Burns is looking for a new partner for his comedy act and decides Lucy could fit the bill. A successful hit show leads to an offer from Las Vegas.
