Songs of the Ethernet is a series of compilations released by underground netlabel Tribal Dancing Kid in association with The Palace Network. The Palace is a small community of artists who share a simple dream: to be heard. Through supporting each other, networking, and sharing, Palace artists produce a myriad of different sounds that for the most part fly straight under the RIAA and co. radar, right to the ears of those that appreciate truly unique and fresh sounds.
Independent, original and varied music flows freely in The Palace, and Songs of the Ethernet captures that flow at the fountainhead. Out of a multitude of submitted tracks, the finalists were voted on by Palace members, meaning that what you hear here is what the entire network considers the crème de la crème.
Songs of the Ethernet Vol. 1 was released in February 2010 as a download with a price-tag, but after little commercial success it was decided in July of the same year that this release be made available completely FREE under a Creative Commons license
