Born in DC but raised in Georgetown, Guyana, Sim-E moved to Brooklyn in the early eighties, where hip hop was becoming an emergent force within the lives of urban youth around the city. Inspired by older kin Selwyn Seyfu Hinds, Sim-E began writing his first lines after moving to Strong Island (Port Knoxx), New York and making his first beats after relocating again to Miami, Florida. Twelve years, one SP 1200, one Roland W-30 keyboard, one self produced (group) album, and scores of rhymes later, Sim-E has returned home to his roots to plant some new seeds in hip hop's unfertile soil. This time teaming up with his real family and a few old friends (Mas Camp), Sim-E is determined to create the type of music that he was once inspired by and has even sought the guidance of a few legends that helped build hip hop culture in to the positive force that is emulated all around the world for it's spirit and pulsating energy! While others seek mainstream success by succumbing to mundane formulas and unoriginal marketing strategies, Sim-E keeps it fresh and new by building with those who do the same across the globe and is committed to a resurgence of artistic and creative expression among urban youth in hip hop.
